White Noise is an interesting phenomenon. It is usually defined as a reoccurring sound that becomes so normal that we no longer pay any attention to. Things like whirring fan, radio, or television static. a hissing radiator. That can include big noises as well.
For most of my adult life (there is some debate as to whether I have ever attained adulthood) I have lived adjacent to or very near by a railroad track. This particular track is the spur that runs from Los Angeles to San Diego. There are currently nineteen trains both freight and passenger that traverse that one hundred twenty mile stretch both day and night. Just prior to the multiple railroad crossing intersections the train engineers often blast a loud, blaring warning horn.
When I first came to the area I was oftentimes wrenched out of a sound sleep by the racket of the train and it's horn. Conversations were interrupted by it.
But in a short time I gradually began to ignore the din. Soon I was not awakened in the night any more. It became then, and still is, "White Noise." to me.
In fact the only time I hear the train is if someone visits from out of the area mentions it. I guess it has just become an unheeded fact of life.
However one can't ignore the fact that english is dynamic language. Words and phrases often morph into new definitions and meanings due to time and evolving circumstances.
On my birthday August 12th, 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia, a car plowed through a group of counter-protesters who were demonstrating against an alt-right and white nationalist rally. One person was killed and more than 19 others were injured.
Thursday October 25, 2018, three neo-Nazi suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with attacks at rallies, including the deadly Charlottesville, Virginia, Unite the Right rally.
The FBI said Robert Paul Rundo, the founder and leader of the neo-Nazi group Rise Above Movement, is in federal custody facing civil unrest charges. He is accused of inciting violence at the 2017 Charlottesville riots, and at 2017 political rallies in Huntington Beach, Berkley and San Bernardino, California.
The Proud Boys is a far-right, neo-fascist, and exclusively male organization that promotes and engages in political violence in the United States. The Proud Boys are a right-wing extremist group with a violent agenda. They are primarily misogynistic, Islamophobic, transphobic and anti-immigration. Some members espouse white supremacist and antisemitic ideologies and/or engage with white supremacist groups.
These groups and far too many like them are solely responsible the violent disruption of peaceful protest through out the world. The Proud Boys have international chapters in Canada, Britain, Ireland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Australia and the Philippines.
Proud Boys members accounted for one of the highest number of extremist arrestees in relation to the Jan 6 insurrection. In 2021, Proud Boys latched on to anti-mask and anti-vaccine activism, showing up at school board meetings as well as related protests and rallies.
These are examples of the new, "White Noise,"
On March 4th,1797 a miracle happened. Out going United States President George Washington handed over the reins of power of the Government of the United States of America to incoming President John Adams. This was done willingly, peacefully, without revolution, or violence. To my knowledge this had never happened before, anywhere. This miracle has continued for the past two hundred and forty one years.
On January 6 the loudest expression of white noise bellowed out of the U.S. Capitol building. Lead and encouraged by the narcissistic Son of a bitch, Donald J. Trump, then president of the united states. The ONLY president that didn't participate in the peaceful transference of power when he lost the 2020 Election. A bulwark of our democracy. Six people died and one hundred forty police officers were injured in the Capitol that day defending our democracy from the hands of these thugs.
To me the best way to handle these violent fools is to find out who they are watch them closely and when they act violently subject them to the due process of law. We are supposedly a society of laws, to react any other way would make us no better than they are.
The worst way to deal with them is to ignore this, "WHITE NOISE!"
Unlike the constant sound of the train... This kind of, "WHITE NOISE," must to be recognized, charged , and convicted whenever and wherever it turns violent and threatening.
